Samanyolu'nun en parlak bölgesi olan Yay takımyıldızında, yıldız ışığını kesen dev bir toz kompleksi. Bu kadar geniş bir alan tek karede sığmadığı için görüntü birkaç panelin birleştirilmesiyle oluşturulan bir mozaiktir.

Karanlık bulutsular galaksinin hammaddesidir: Yeterince soğuyup çöktüklerinde yeni yıldızlar doğar. Burada gördüğünüz siyah şekiller, milyonlarca yıl sonra parlayacak yıldızların bugünkü hâlidir.

In Sagittarius, the brightest part of the Milky Way, a giant complex of dust blocks the light of the stars behind it. Too wide for a single frame, the image is a mosaic assembled from several panels.

Dark nebulae are the raw material of the galaxy: when they cool and collapse, new stars are born. The black shapes you see here are the present-day form of stars that will shine millions of years from now.
