Kedi Patisi BulutsusuThe Cat's Paw Nebula

Akrep'in kuyruğuna yakın bu bulutsunun yuvarlak lobları bir kedi patisinin izini andırır. Her lob, içinde doğmuş genç ve kütleli yıldızların şişirdiği bir gaz kabarcığıdır; kırmızı, iyonlaşmış hidrojenin rengidir.

Bulutsu 50 ışık yılı genişliğindedir ve Samanyolu'nun en etkin yıldız doğumevlerinden biridir: İçinde Güneş'in on katı kütleli onlarca yıldız aynı anda oluşmaktadır.

Near the tail of Scorpius, the round lobes of this nebula resemble the print of a cat's paw. Each lobe is a bubble of gas inflated by young, massive stars born inside it; red is the colour of ionised hydrogen.

The nebula spans 50 light-years and is one of the most active stellar nurseries in the Milky Way, forming dozens of stars ten times the mass of the Sun at the same time.
